Coremo brake discs
Coremo brake discs are recommended to achieve maximum braking system performance, in fact, it is essential that the industrial brake is correctly paired with discs (or rails) capable of withstanding the mechanical and thermal stresses generated during the specific braking. It is equally important that the contact surfaces, between pad and disc, are able to develop the highest possible friction coefficient while ensuring minimal wear of the parts, particularly of the disc (or rail) itself.
Brake disc selection must take into account not only the required performance, but also the operating environment, such as extreme temperatures or marine conditions, as well as machine characteristics including rotational speed, duty cycles and potential contamination from dust, oils, moisture or chemical agents.
Choosing the right disc
is just as important as selecting the correct industrial brake in order to achieve maximum operational efficiency, long-term reliability and the highest levels of safety for the entire braking system.
Coremo provides its technical expertise by supporting customers in selecting the optimal combination of brake, disc and friction material.
Its already extensive range of industrial brakes is complemented by a dedicated offering of Coremo discs, designed to meet a wide variety of application requirements and to ensure high safety standards and purchasing efficiency through a single reliable supplier.
The Coremo disc range
includes:
- Hat-type spheroidal cast iron discs, with or without hub, available in various diameters from 250 mm up to 762 mm, with standard thicknesses of 12.7 mm or 25.4 mm.
- Flat steel discs in carbon steel, alloy steel, or stainless steel, with or without hub, available in various diameters starting from 200 mm and thicknesses starting from 8 mm.
All discs can be further machined according to customer drawings to ensure optimal system integration, reduced procurement lead times and simplified installation.
Internal tests
The characteristics of Coremo discs: material, hardness, surface finish, thermal conductivity and mechanical strength, are the result of extensive testing carried out on dedicated test benches. These tests are aimed at identifying the best braking performance based on key application variables such as braking type (dynamic or static), friction material, environmental conditions, rotational speed, thermal conditions, mechanical stress, and disc contamination. This approach enables Coremo to define disc solutions (standard or customized) that ensure effective braking performance, reduced maintenance costs and an overall increase in system safety and reliability.
